Scroll down for more (+)March/April 2008Well, I have had my Nordic Stage 4 ECU (and associated hardware upgrades) for a few months now on my 2002 9-3 Aero. Power output according to Nick Taliaferro at genuinesaab.com is 295Hp (220kW) and 310lb.ft torque (420nm)... through the front wheels! Makes driving it quite a handful with gobs of torque steer, but that is all part of the fun! She is running really well now, and goes pretty hard. Set up with the adjustable Koni shocks/dampers and Koni springs gives a massive difference to road holding over stock! Plan is to dyno it once weather gets a little cooler (Winter 2008). Last dyno run it did with just Forge intercooler, 3" down pipe and 3" exhaust, genuinesaab open filter intake was 151kW at the wheels. Pretty impressive with stock ECU and software. Highly recommend genuinesaab.com for all your Saab tuning needs! Check out my FLICKr page for more recent pics of both my Saabs, and from recent Saab Car Club of Australia events. sab December 2006Phew! It has been a long time between drinks and updates to my sbsaabonline website, infact about three years has gone by! I thought it was time to do a whole redesign (and I have been working at it on and off for the last few months), and to celebrate the fact I have just bought a new(er) Saab – a 2002 9-3 Aero in steel grey. Don't worry I still own the Silver Sled and would never consider selling it, nor trading it in! The new sled is a lot of fun and there is some great potential to get some serious power out of it. Have a read about it in the new section I have created for it. Anyways, please enjoy and feel free to give me any feedback at my email above. September 2003Advanced timing to 20BTDC for our winter season - better reponse off the line. Got rid of the Magnecor spark plug leads as had no end of trouble with them breaking and causing funny electrical problems with ignition - gone back to a new set of Bougnicords. Bought an Autometer 30psi boost gauge. Been running the Aquamist 1S water injection kit for about 14 months now. Using the 0.9mm injector. The windshield washer reservoir tank of water and alcohol based fluid last around 3 tanks of petrol. Need to fix my leaking Valve Cover gasket as it is leaking oil again. June 2002Fuel pressure and AMM is perfectly adjusted now. AMM resistance is set at 280ohms between pins 3 and 6. Fuel pressure is at 2.0 Bar at idle with vac line removed. The Intercooler pull fan is also working well and is switched on by a toggle switch in the cabin. The latest upgrade is the installation is an Aquamist 1S water injection kit - stay tuned for pics and details of installation - coming soon! February 2002Still have to adjust the fuel pressure and AMM resistance as per Bentley and Mike Schadan's suggestions at SPG9, as I have just installed a new AMM after the last one died after only 18 months. All i have to do is to drop my fuel pressure… As you need only one to two green leds on the a/f gauge at full throttle. i will also reset the amm so I get a full set of yellow and the most reds. Followed up by a test drive to tune finally so that one to two green led at full throttle are still present. I have also just installed a 10 inch Davies Craig pull fan on the back of the intercooler, with a manual switch inside the cabin. Seems to work well and boost feels more linear... especially in stop and go traffic. The tweaking is almost there, but final verdict to date is the car is driving better than it ever has! Stay tuned for further updates soon. |
